Shouldn't it be 20k since he bought 5 shards at 4k each?

Either way... thats a really weird hack/glitch/scam... if you have his name and took screenshots you might wanna report it. Otherwise... I dunno, you're kinda screwed.

Well...I'm pretty sure that 5*4 = 20, not 16 for one...

I've never heard of this, and I know you're expecting to hear this, but you're positive it was platinum? He didn't re-modify the trade to be gold?

Well, sad to hear you got mugged, but it just looks like you were careless without any screens to prove it.

Pretty sure he offered 16k to start, then changed offer to 16g. Oldest trade scam in the history of online rpgs.

Sounds like a packet sender, nothing new persay but new to this game. It's about time for them to roll out with them though. Basically he has a program that sent packets that said 16 plat so you saw 16 plat, the game saw 16 plat but in reality he only had 16g. It should be traceable though but without screens for Anet not much you can do. I can only hope that other people show a little more caution. If they just catch one person they can trace it through their logs and possibly even determine what packets were sent then alter the way that information is sent to make that particular program ineffective. Still it will only be a matter of time before they adapt.

I remember the first D2 packet sender scams. People were putting up all kinds of ridiculous items for trade and ripping people off like mad and leaving them with nothing but empty inventory space.

He can't do that though can he? Isn't everything stored server-side, sure the guy can make it look like on his OWN view it's maybe 16g, but to everyone else it is still 16k, only 16g to the actual person who put it in.

So to him it would've been 16k still.

A few months ago there were a few people running around doing this. People would offer the requested platinum, and then at the last minute change it to gold. I dont quite know how it all works as I dont trade very often, but it has happened.

It is possible that it is some sort of hack, but I kind of doubt it. Thats just my view though.

Scary...*runs off and deletes every item in fear of getting scammed* *decides not to* *runs off to the Magik Haat and asks what happens* *gets ignored by the Magik Haat*

I would like to see a screen. Maybe he actually changed it to 16g? Maybe when you deposited you saw the wrong amount? Or...maybe he's lieing? I'm thinking that #3 is false, but you never know...

Do they necessarily need screens? If he has the guy's name and the time and place it happened, can't they go back and check the logs? At the very least, I would think the remark about the hack and the homophobic slur would be enough to warrant some kind of punishment.
